  • The Russian silver gilt and guilloche enamel cigarette box is a stunning example of the fine craftsmanship prominent in Russia in the early twentieth century. Andrey Adler, one of Russia's most known gold and silversmiths at the time, designed the case in St. Petersburg circa 1910.

The case is composed of Russian export silver, stamped "88," and is embellished with beautiful cream guilloche enamel highlighted with a sapphire cabochon. Guilloche is a decorative method that produces a pattern of delicate lines that is commonly found in Russian jewellery and decorative arts of the time.

Andrey Adler was recognised for his remarkable craftsmanship and was in high demand from high-end clients, including the famed House of Faberge, for whom he handled orders. With its immaculate enamelling and exact construction, the cigarette box demonstrates his talent and attention to detail.

In the early twentieth century, the cigarette box was a favourite accessory among the affluent and stylish, and the gorgeous enamel ornamentation made it a symbol of luxury and refinement. It is now a highly valued collector's item and a stunning representation of Russia's rich cultural history.
