HISTORY:

Established in 1880 by Edmond Tétard, the prestigious Tétard Frères company thrived under his skilled craftsmanship and creative vision. Taking over from the renowned silversmith Émile Hugo, Tétard quickly made a name for himself in the industry. Situated at 4 Rue Béranger, in the heart of Paris, the workshop became a hub for creating exquisite flatware sets, as well as luxurious coffee and tea sets, decorative trays, and urns. Every piece was meticulously crafted with elegant proportions, featuring intricate details and hand engravings. Tétard's exceptional designs caught the attention of clients and peers alike, earning him a gold medal at the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris. Influenced by the Rococo style, his silverware became highly sought after, particularly among the French aristocracy.
Following Tétard's passing, his three sons Henri, Jacques, and Georges took over the business, rebranding it as Tétard Frères in 1903. The brothers forged their own path, embracing the emerging Art Deco style and solidifying the company's position as a leading silversmith of the early 20th century. Their talent was showcased at the 1925 Paris Exposition, where their designs garnered widespread admiration. In 1919, Valery Bizouard and Louis Tardy, renowned for their artistic abilities and avant-garde sensibilities, joined the firm. Together with Jean, Henri Tétard's son, they orchestrated masterpieces that garnered acclaim and numerous awards.
Bizouard's designs epitomized the company's commitment to marrying the beauty of the past with the demands of the modern era. The firm's creations, as noted in a 1930 publication, skillfully adorned contemporary homes while retaining a noble connection to the finest works of the past. Through their tireless pursuit of innovative patterns and harmonies, Tétard Frères succeeded in capturing the spirit and style of their time, creating pieces that resonated with discerning individuals who appreciated both tradition and modernity.
