This brooch pendant is designed in the shape of a cross, with detailed micro mosaic work depicting various religious and symbolic motifs. The central roundel features the Agnus Dei, or Lamb of God, holding a flag, a symbol of Christ's sacrifice and resurrection. The use of blue in the background signifies divinity and heaven, enhancing the spiritual significance of the piece.
Each arm of the cross is decorated with different motifs. At the top, there is a Chi-Rho symbol, which is the first two letters of "Christ" in Greek. The sides of the cross features cherubs and at the bottom, there is an anchor, a symbol of hope and steadfastness in Christian iconography.
The intricate micro mosaic technique involves assembling tiny pieces of coloured glass or stone (tesserae) to create detailed images. This method requires great skill and precision, as seen in the fine details of this piece.
