What is a Calibre Cut?

A calibre cut refers to a style of gemstone cutting where small stones are precisely shaped and set into a pattern, fitting snugly against each other without the need for visible metal settings. These stones are usually cut to very specific dimensions to perfectly align with the surrounding design, often used to border larger centrepieces or create detailed geometric patterns in Art Deco jewellery.

This cutting style is most commonly seen in antique jewellery pieces, where it was used to add intricate details, often using gemstones like sapphires, rubies, or diamonds. The careful precision of the cut is crucial, as each gemstone needs to fit perfectly within the design to create a seamless, elegant look.
